BACK AGAIN for 2025
ZOMBIE HIKE
Do you have what it takes to survive the horde of Zombies?
Join The Sunnywood Project on a challenging fun-filled, Halloween adventure.
This 4-mile hike with around 500ft of ascent will take you over Holcombe Moor where Zombies roam freely.
All under-18's must be accompanied by an adult and must be comfortable walking the 4-mile distance across challenging terrain. We advise ages 11+, but ultimately, we will leave this to your discretion as no one knows your little horrors more than you
Places are limited and this event is popular!
Please ensure you buy tickets for the correct date and time as we may be unable to accomodate you on an alternative slot.
Read through the information below and then choose your timeslot and book tickets to secure your place.
This is a fundraising event.
All proceeds go towards funding our Youth Programme
and community activities.
Infected or Survivor?
Upon arrival you will receive 'lives'. Zombies will try and snatch these lives from you.
You must try and complete the Hike with at least one life intact.
If you do, you are a true survivor!
If not, you will complete the hike as 'Infected'.
How Fast?
This is predominantly a Hike. However, sometimes the Zombies like to give chase.
The aim of the game is to dodge the Zombies when they find you.
This hike is guided and it is important you never go on ahead without your designated Survival Hike Leader.
Catching
The Zombies are lurking on your route; sometimes they do like to give chase, but our Zombies are more 'George. A. Romero' than 'Danny Boyle', so they won't chase you for long. Just try and hold on to your 'lives' while they do. Our Zombies will not tackle you or attempt to make contact with you, they just want your 'lives'. Please do not attempt to push, hit or hurt our Zombies.
Have Fun
Most importantly, have fun!
Remember, this is not a race.
One of our aims at The Sunnywood Project is to help people get outdoors and active in fun and unique ways.
So wrap up warm, get your walking boots on and join The Sunnywood Project for our Zombie Hike!
how it works
Arrival
Upon arrival you will need to sign in at our check-in booth.
Here you will collect your 'lives', ensure we have the details for everyone in your party, and prepare yourselves for survival by choosing a glowstick!
Green: 'I'm up for being chased and fending for my life!'
Yellow: 'Scare me a bit - Just don't be surprised if I squeal!'
Red: 'I'm just here for the walk and to watch others suffer.'

How LonG and how far?
The route is roughly 4 miles with plenty of ascent over Holcombe Moor. Expect bog, mud, track and trail.
To ensure everyone's enjoyment, expect and plan for your hike to take around 2 hours to complete.
We will be setting off at different intervals - Please book for your time slot of choice
Families
Things could get scary!
Special glowsticks will be available for children (or adults) if they do not wish to be 'chased'. These will turn them 'invisible' to the walking dead.
The recommended age for this activity is 11+. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times and must be able to do the distance.
Neck Gaiter
Everyone completing the event, living or... a little worse for wear will receive a Sunnywood Project Neck Gaiter!
Guaranteed to keep both the chill and the chomping teeth of the undead at bay!*
*Terms and conditions apply, effects may vary. Consult your doctor before going near the living dead
About the Event
Torches
It will be dark during the hike. Each person attending will need a torch - Your phone's flashlight won't do!
Besides, you'll want your phone free to take pictures.
Drinks and snacks
While we won't be stopping for a picnic, we always advise having a drink as well as a snack or two to keep the energy up!
That being said, please don't bring anything alcoholic.
Your Ticket
Naturally, please bring your ticket or confirmation booking email with you when you sign-in
Attire
This is a hike over uneven terrain, it is also quite boggy in places. We recommend you wear walking boots with plenty of grip and support. Dress-up warm as who knows what the weather will throw our way - and it does get chilly on the hills!
What to Bring?
Weapons
Do not bring any weapons of any kind - This is an 'escape and evade' event not a 'seek and destroy' excursion.
Leave your crossbows, cricket bats, boomsticks, and 'Lucilles' at home - even if they are made of foam!
Please remember this is a fun event - Our Zombies have their own lives.
Dogs
We don't think dogs will appreciate being periodically chased by the undead. We also don't want a dog bitten by a Zombie - or a Zombie bitten by a dog. That might create some frightful Zombie-Dog hybrid.
Please keep all furry friends at home for this event.
