About the Event

🎄CONQUER THE WILD: CHRISTMAS SPECIAL!🌲

Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall & Hardcastle Crags

One last adventure before Christmas!

We're adding an extra special Conquer the Wild Christmas Hike to our calendar, and this time we're heading to the beautiful Calder Valley for a festive adventure exploring the hills, moorlands, woodlands and rivers surrounding Hebden Bridge!

Expect the usual Conquer the Wild ingredients: mud, hills, breathtaking scenery, great company and plenty of laughs, but with a little extra Christmas cheer thrown in!

Starting in the vibrant town of Hebden Bridge, we'll head uphill towards the historic hilltop village of Heptonstall, before venturing out onto the surrounding moorland for some spectacular views across the Calder Valley.

From there, our adventure takes us towards the beautiful Hardcastle Crags, where we'll hopefully have the opportunity for a well-earned brew at the historic Gibson Mill, before following scenic riverside and woodland trails back towards Hebden Bridge.

.

A MORE RELAXED CHRISTMAS ADVENTURE

Unlike our usual Conquer the Wild challenges, we're starting a little later at 10:00am, aiming to finish around 2:00pm.

This gives everyone a more leisurely start, provides greater flexibility for those travelling by train, and, perhaps most importantly, leaves plenty of time to enjoy the cafés, independent eateries and welcoming pubs of Hebden Bridge afterwards!

Think of it as our Conquer the Wild Christmas get-together... just with a few hills to conquer first!

MORE THAN JUST A HIKE

Our Conquer the Wild adventures are about much more than covering miles or reaching summits.

They're about discovering new places, challenging yourself, making memories and enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded people.

There are no races, no records to break and no pressure to be the fastest. Just a shared adventure, plenty of encouragement and the satisfaction of getting outdoors, whatever the weather throws at us!

As always, our adventures are led by a qualified, knowledgeable and experienced Hill and Moorland team, who take care of the planning and navigation so you can concentrate on enjoying the journey.

Whether you're a regular Conquer the Wild participant or joining us for the very first time, we'd love you to be part of this special festive outing.

PAY WHAT YOU WANT: EVERY DONATION MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

This Christmas, we're doing something a little different!

Rather than charging a fixed ticket price for our Conquer the Wild Christmas Special, we're inviting you to PAY WHAT YOU WANT, with all contributions going directly towards supporting the work of The Sunnywood Project.

Whether you choose to donate a little or a lot, every contribution is genuinely appreciated and helps us continue creating opportunities for children, young people, families and communities to experience the benefits of the great outdoors.

The Sunnywood Project is an award-winning, profit-for-purpose organisation dedicated to using the outdoors to enrich people's lives.

Your donations will help support programmes including our Kindling Kids sessions, Duke of Edinburgh's Award activities and SPACE intervention programme, which supports young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.

There's no set price and no expectation... simply contribute whatever you feel comfortable giving.

So come along, enjoy a fantastic day in the hills, share some festive cheer and help us make a difference along the way.
