About the Event

Summer Youth Hikes

Meeting at the Sunnywood Hub in the Burrs Country Park, we'll board our minibus and venture off exploring various locations throughout the summer holidays.

The Sunnywood Project’s Youth Hikes promote a love for the great outdoors and seek to encourage a mentally and physically healthy lifestyle for teens.

Suitable for ages 12 years and up, each adventure will cover a distance of approximately 6 miles over mixed terrain, providing time away from home to ‘reconnect’ with the outside world.

We will break for lunch at a pictureque spots to admire the views and scenery.

Who is this suitable for?

Research suggests that spending time outdoors can help:

  • Reduce our levels of stress
  • Reduce fatigue
  • Boost our immune system
  • Reduce anxiety
  • Encourage further physical activity

We believe these events will be well-suited to those:

  • Who may be experiencing low mood or low self-esteem
  • Who want to make new friends or gain more social confidence
  • Who want to be more physically active or spend time in nature and outdoors, but do not necessarily enjoy team sports.

But, it will also be suitable for anyone who just wants to join us on an adventure!

Schedule

Each adventure will start at the Sunnywood Hub, Burrs Country Park.

Meeting at 9.30am, we'll board the Sunnywood minibus and head off to explore various beautiful locations.
