About the Event
Unfortunately, the River Irwell and surrounding areas are suffering from the invasion of various non-native plant species. Join the Angling Trust's Environment Officers on a tour of the Outwood Nature Trail to identify some of the most common terrestrial invasive non-native species in the UK including:
• Himalayan Balsam
• Giant Hogweed
• Japanese Knotweed
Attendees will take a short walk along the trail, identify some of the most common invasive plant species, learn best-practice on how to manage such species and hopefully be able to bash some balsam!
The event aims to be inclusive as possible with both physical and non-physical roles available on the day. The Angling Trust encouarge all to get involved!Â
What to bring:
• Wear suitable clothing for walking and bashing - not your best kit!Â
• A drink
• Sturdy footwear
• Personal snacks/food
