About the Event

Banish the Blues Hike & Trail Run


Starting January 2025: trade the winter blues for some absolutely awesome views!


Join our 6-week hike & trail run series designed to spark adventure, lift spirits, and boost mental well-being - starting the new year by benefiting positively from embracing the outdoors with others!

Over a six week period, our 'Banish the Blues' events are designed to explore the local area and green spaces from Burrs Country Park, Bury whilst facilitating a positive shared experience.

Each route will cover a distance of approximately 4-6 miles - however, the emphasis is less on the distance and more on the laughs, the social experience, and opportunity to capture some awesome photographs! 

Hikers are Runners start at the same locations, but head out on the routes in opposite directions, passing each other along the route for a group photo opportunity.

Led by a qualified Hill and Moorland team with a wealth of experience and expertise.


Leave the planning and navigation to us and just enjoy venturing through our glorious woodlands and countryside with awesome company.


The Banish the Blues Hike and Trail Run will take place every Sunday Morning and Thursday Evening from 5th January until 13th February 2025.


Where Are We Going?


  • Week One: 5th / 9th January - ‘The One That Crosses the Railway Line’

  • Week Two: 12th / 16th January - ‘The One That Follows the River’

  • Week Three: 19th / 23rd January - ‘The One Around the Lodges’

  • Week Four: 26th / 30th January - ‘The One with the Canal’

  • Week Five: 2nd / 6th February - ‘The One with Plenty of Mud’

  • Week Six: 9th / 13th February - ‘The One with Sculptures’



All of these routes are circular. Starting points are given in the details for each event. Please share any photos within our Facebook group.


Kit requirements:

Specific details and requirements for each Woodland Vibes event will be emailed prior to the date however, for the the majority of events, it maybe requested that you bring the following:

• Waterproof jacket

• Spare warm layer

• Head torch (Thursday evenings)

• Fully charged mobile phone, with OS Maps or OS Locate app installed

• Suitable trail shoes or boots

• Personal snacks and drink 


Route

Each route will cover 4-6 miles across a wide variety of terrain. Some areas may be muddy, boggy or uneven underfoot.

Any specific requirements for the event will be emailed prior, however please get in touch via email if you have any questions in advance of booking.

As a non-profit, charitable organisation, dedicated to using the outdoors to enrich lives, the proceeds from all our adventures help fund and sustain our youth service and other community activities that promote the benefits of embracing the outdoors.
