The Link Series – Hike & Trail Run

Step into adventure with The Link Series Hike & Trail Run - a nighttime outdoor experience designed to help you explore the stunning landscapes, heritage villages, and hidden green spaces that make Bury truly special.

Across four weeks, you’ll take on a series of 4–5 mile guided hikes and trail runs, each forming part of the incredible 20-mile Village Link route. Whether you choose to Hike or Run, this series is about exploration, community, and enjoying the outdoors together - and prepartion for those aiming to complete the full Link Challenge with us on the 21st March.

The Village Link

The Village Link connects Bury’s historic villages through scenic trail paths, woodland tracks, open meadows, and iconic local landmarks. Each route showcases the natural beauty surrounding the town while celebrating the heritage of the area.

Every week brings a new meeting point:

• Week 1: 27/02/26 - Ramsbottom & Grant’s Tower

• Week 2: 05/03/26 - Hawkshaw & Peel Tower

• Week 3: 12/03/26 - Summerseat & Nangreaves

• Week 4: 19/03/26 - Walshaw & Ainsworth

  
  

All routes are circular, covering varied trail terrain that may include woodland paths, open countryside, muddy sections, and uneven ground.

Kit Requirements

Full details will be emailed before each event, but participants may be asked to bring:

• Waterproof jacket

• Spare warm layer

• Head torch

• Fully charged mobile phone with OS Maps installed

• Suitable trail shoes or boots

• Personal snacks and drink
