Children's Adventure Days with The Sunnywood Project

This Easter, young explorers are invited to step into the wild and join the Sunnywood School of Adventure: a series of thrilling, jam-packed adventure days full of exploration, discovery, laughter, and unforgettable outdoor fun.

What to Expect

Each adventure day begins at the Sunnywood Hub, where our adventurers climb aboard the Sunnywood minibus and head off into the great outdoors.

Each day, we'll explore stunning green spaces across Bury - ancient woodlands, open meadows and wild moorland 

We'll start each day by heading into and exploring the beautiful countryside.

We'll keep things relaxed along the way, with plenty of breaks, time to explore, space to chat, laugh and play silly games along the way.

There’s no rushing: just space to roam, wonder, and enjoy the adventure however we typically cover a distance of around 3-4 miles.

We’ll then pause at a stunning scenic spot to enjoy our picnic lunch, relax, and soak up the views like true explorers.

Adventure Finale: Crafts & Campfire Fun

Back at the Sunnywood Hub, the adventure continues!

Children will create their own nature-inspired craft using natural materials – a special keepsake to take home and remember the day.

And then, we’ll end the day gathered around a campfire, toasting marshmallows, sharing stories, solving riddles, and winding down together as adventurers do.

It’s the perfect end to an epic day outdoors.

Who Is It For?

Ages: 8 years and up

The Sunnywood School of Adventure is perfect for children who:

• Love exploring and trying new things

• Want to make new friends and grow in confidence

• Enjoy nature, animals, and being outdoors

• Want to be active without the pressure of team sports

No special skills needed – just curiosity, comfy shoes, and a sense of adventure!

Where Are We Heading?

• Start: Sunnywood Hub, Burrs Country Park

• Meet time: 9:30am

• Travel by minibus to exciting outdoor locations across woodland, moorland, and open countryside

• Collection: 2:00pm from the Sunnywood Hub

Cost

£30 per person which includes:

• A full day of adventure

• Picnic lunch

• Campfire marshmallows

• Nature craft activities

A limited number of free places are available for families in receipt of Free School Meals through the HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programme.
