Service Description

Our Conquer the Wild events are typically up hills and in moorland. These longer hikes and fell runs have more mud, more hills - all of which make for more laughs and awesome photos! These routes typically cover a distance of 10-12 miles and take place on the last Saturday of the month. Led by a qualified Mountain & Hill and Moorland team with a wealth of experience and expertise. The Conquer the Wild events are about discovering and exploring new places whilst completing a challenging route with the camaraderie of other like-minded people around you – there should be no desire to ‘beat’ anyone or break any records. The event typically takes up to 3hrs for the run and up to 5.5/6hrs for the hike, depending on pace and enjoyment – As this is a supportive, group event accommodating a range of abilities, please consider the latest time advertised if making plans after the event. Locations: January 25th: Bury North Trails February 22nd: Nicky Nook March 29th: Ingleborough April 26th: Lud's Church May 31st: Ladybower & Derwent Edge June 28th: Pendle July 26th: Mam Tor & Ward's Piece September 27th: Marsden October 25th: Kinder Scout November 29th: Thieveley Pike All of these routes are circular. Starting points for each month will be emailed to participants before the event. Kit requirements: Specific details and requirements for each event will be emailed prior. However, it maybe requested that you bring the following: • Waterproof jacket and trousers • Spare warm layer • Hat and gloves • Ability to carry a minimum 1 litre of water • Fully charged mobile phone, with OS Maps or OS Locate app installed • Suitable trail shoes or boots • Personal snacks/food _________________________________________________________ As a non-profit, charitable organisation, dedicated to using the outdoors to enrich lives, the proceeds from all our adventures help fund and sustain our youth service and other community activities that promote the benefits of embracing the outdoors. By attending our events, you will contribute to covering the costs of our ‘Kindling Kids’ sessions; our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programmes; our SPACE programme for children with SEMH needs; and much more! With the emphasis on exploration to improve physical, mental and social wellbeing and less about competitive times or distances, our adventures are all led by a qualified, knowledgeable and experienced team who will provide encouragement, support and humour along the way.
