Walk Leader Training

The CPD course will prepare individuals looking to lead walks for physical, mental, and social well-being. Combining the ethos and qualities of effective leadership with crucial expertise in outdoor activities, the course will cover the development, planning, preparation, and delivery stages of walk leading, with emphasis on ethical and ecological considerations alongside reflective practice.

What is Certified Walk Leader Training?

A two day training course on effective leadership for walking activities to improve physical, mental and social wellbeing.


The overall aim of the Walk Leader: Effective Leadership CPD course is to encourage and develop good practice in leading walking activities for social, physical, and mental wellbeing. 


As a participant, you will gain valuable insight into Developing, Planning, Preparing and Delivering activities whilst also learning practical skills such as route-planning and navigation.


Length of course

The Sunnywood Project's Accredited Walk Leader CPD course is a two day (16 hours) programme that aims to equip potential Walk Leaders with the skills and knowledge to plan, prepare and deliver an engaging and safe walking activity over various terrain.





Day 1

  • Understanding the role of the Walk Leader

  • The role of the leader

  • Responsibilities

  • The stages of walk leading

  • Development, planning, preparation, delivery and reflection

  • Safety considerations

  • Terrain, weather and emergency procedures.


Day 2

  • Practical Assessment

  • Skills in practice 

  • Leader planned walking activity for assesment

  • Application of knowledge


Cost

  • £120 per person (minimum group size of 6)

  • Most of our training will take place in Bury, Greater Manchester.

  • We can also deliver this training to your groups across Greater Manchester and Lancashire (minimum group size of 6).


Completion

  • Accredited certified CPD certificate

  • Developed confidence in leading walks

  • Learners manual and guide

  • Risk assessment templates
