Conservation Connection: a new adventure for young people and their parents / carers to embrace the outdoors and learn something new together.

Conservation Connection is a series of workshops for ages 10+ and their parents/carers to connect with each other and with your local environment. The first Conservation Connection day will take place on Thursday 2nd June, with other days to follow throughout the year. We will support you to reconnect with nature, yourself and each other whilst working to conserve our beautiful green spaces and achieve the John Muir Award for doing so.

Whilst getting active and exploring together, you will experience workshops such as: Different habitats such as moorland, woodland and different native trees

Dry stone walling Flood defence

Night time bat walk

Identifying invasive plants and working to remove them

Tree planting

Litter picking

Building and installing bird and bat boxes

Outdoor games and team building excersises

Day 1: 2nd June will include Dry Stone Walling, Balsam Bashing and Dam Clearing. *Make sure to bring a picnic*

Contribute to documenting our journey, experiences and work through a video which will be shared widely to promote stewardship of our green spaces.

Participation in all Conservation Connection days will lead to achieving the John Muir Award. Workshops are designed to help participants gain skills in outdoor conservation while re-connecting with nature and each other. Conservation Connection is an opportunity for families to work towards a shared goal; helping improve relationships; boosting confidence and simply enjoy spending time outdoors together.

Conservation Connection is fun and unique way to strengthen relationships- we will

Explore, Learn and Grow together.
