The Sunnywood Project is passionate about the benefits the great outdoors have on our physical and mental well-being.

Our guided walks, hikes & runs are planned to do just that: to get outdoors, to get active, to socialise and to have fun.

Early Breakfast Trail Run

An easy-paced, guided trail run which ends with a tasty, rewarding breakfast butty and hot drink - perfect as we approach the colder months. You'll experience a new route each week - covering a distance of around 5-7km. This is perfect for those still building confidence in their running ability, but keen to venture away from the pavement and explore our local muddy trails with a supportive group - nobody gets left behind! 

Beginners Guided Trail/Fell Run

Venture further on the moors with our Guided Trail / Fell Run. Explore the trails high up on the moors and enjoy being miles away from the nearest road. Each run will cover a distance between 10-12km and plenty of elevation. This event will involve steep hills and uneven surfaces - trail shoes are essential. As always, there will be an occasional rest break and nobody gets left behind.

Monthly Guided Hikes

Our Monthly Guided Hike takes place on the last Saturday of every month: Est duration 4-5 HRS. Each of our Monthly Guided Hikes range between 10 - 12 miles and are suited to those who want to explore new, adventurous and challenging routes. The hikers and runners start at the same point, but set off in different directions passing each other along the route. Leave the planning and navigation to us and just enjoy being out in the open enjoying the views and company.

Teen Wellbeing Hike

The Sunnywood Project’s ‘Teen’s Wellbeing Hike event promotes a love for the great outdoors to stimulate a mentally and physically healthy lifestyle for teens. For ages 13-16 years, each event will cover a distance between 5-7 miles over challenging terrain and provide opportunity to learn basic map reading skills and ‘reconnect’ with the outside world - we discourage the use of phones for the duration of the event.

Leave the planning and navigation to us and just enjoy being out in the open enjoying the views and company.

Endurance Events

These events are NOT races: they are simply about completing the distance with the camaraderie of other like-minded people around you – there should be no desire to ‘beat’ anyone or break any records and our friendly guides will be running / hiking the whole routes with you to offer a supportive pep talk when required. 

However, we also won’t be offended if you do want to push on ahead without us.  

These events help to fund our educational projects.
